Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 15, 2026

Ascent (“the app”) is developed by Aaron Bieber (“we,” “us,” “our”). This policy explains what information Ascent collects, how it is used, and how it is protected — including data accessed through Google Health / Health Connect.

The short version

Ascent stores your climbing and fitness data only on your device. We do not operate any server that receives, stores, or processes your personal or health data. We cannot see it, and we never sell, share, or transmit it to anyone — including us.

What data Ascent accesses

To provide its core features, Ascent may read and write the following data through Android’s Health Connect / Google Health platform, and store it locally on your watch and phone:

Ascent also stores app settings and preferences you configure, such as your preferred grading system.

How this data is used

All of the data listed above is used exclusively to power features within the app itself — for example, showing your grade pyramid, session history, and heart rate zones. It is not used for advertising, analytics profiling, or any purpose beyond displaying your own activity back to you.

Where this data is stored

Sharing and sale of data

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your health or fitness data with any third party, for any purpose, at any time. Because this data never leaves your device, there is nothing for us to share even if we wanted to.

Your controls

Children’s privacy

Ascent is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes — for example, if we introduce a new feature that changes how data is handled — we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
